About the CemeteryThe Alabama National Cemetery (ALNC) at 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama was dedicated July 13, 2008. It is located next to The American Village near the historic town of Montevallo, approximately six miles west of Interstate 65. Initial construction began October 20, 2008 with the first burials on June 25, 2009. Construction of 54 acres was completed on April 25, 2011 which provided the Public Information Center, main entrance with Avenue of Flags, memorial wall with flag circle, offices and maintenance facilities, columbarium, committal shelters, memorial walkway and burial space for over ten thousand military members and their families. Alabama National Cemetery occupies 479 acres of beautiful rolling wooded land with space to serve more than 200,000 eligible patriots for the next 50 years.
